Overview

GitHub is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Authentication team.

This team is part of Identity Core at GitHub. We are responsible for all things authentication. We build and maintain the account login services for GitHub, protecting the integrity of user credentials, and providing means of account recovery.

The ideal candidate is a team player who is comfortable working in the context of both monoliths and micro-services. They don’t shy away from hard problems, and have a strong sense of customer empathy. They are comfortable working closely with engineers at all levels as well as product managers.

Responsibilities

  • Work on cross-cutting projects to independently scale authentication services.
  • Implement new and maintain existing authentication flows and management interfaces.
  • Integrate with third party services that support authentication interfaces.
  • Troubleshoot customer authentication issues across our product suite in an on-call rotation.
  • Collaborate with your team, product and design to build new features.
  • Share technical direction, mentorship, pairing opportunities, and code reviews to encourage the growth of others.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience developing production software using Go, Ruby, JavaScript/TypeScript or equivalent language
  • 2+ years of experience building and maintaining web applications
  • 2+ years experience with MySQL

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Go, Ruby/Rails
  • Experience in IAM space
  • Familiarity with 2FA/MFA, WebAuthn, SSH, PAT, Passwordless authentication concepts
  • Comfortable in delivering large ambitious projects using iterative deliverables
  • Strong track record of delivering projects

Compensation Range

The base salary range for this job is USD $75,000.00 - USD $198,900.00 /Yr.

In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.

These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
