Microsoft 365 is the largest SaaS cloud service on the planet and network connectivity from user machines to Microsoft is a critical element in delivering a great user experience. Our team drives projects that improve this network connectivity impacting all Microsoft 365 SaaS. We measure connectivity, network performance, availability, resiliency, and outages from a variety of usage telemetry and synthetic sources. Some of our projects are partnering with engineering teams across Microsoft 365 features, others are with enterprise customers, and others are with network providers and ISPs.

We are looking for a Product Manager II who is excited about cloud network connectivity to join our team. You will be working with a team of Product Managers, software engineers, data engineers, data scientists, and architects.

As part of the Enterprise and Cloud (E+C) organization, you will help lead our push to enable enterprise customers to get the best experience in connecting to our cloud. You’ll be empowered to work on things that you’re passionate about, you’ll be given autonomy, and your ideas will matter. You will drive coordination, cohesion, and consensus across networking teams in Microsoft 365 and will be required to develop trust-based relationships, foster collaboration, and encourage consensus. Regular communication and status reports, scope definition, schedule management, and risk mitigation are all core responsibilities enabling governance of the area.

Responsibilities

You will gather customer research, propose new ideas, author requirements specifications, and drive networking performance and network administration features directly with the network connectivity Software Engineering feature crew and with teams across Microsoft 365. You will seek feedback from customers and from partner engineering teams and you will use operational data to evaluate feature success. You will run data queries hands on to access operational data and analyze the results directly. You will report on progress with metrics, report on and celebrate achievements with feature crews, and give introductory talks about the work both internally and with customers. You will manage large cross-group initiatives in network connectivity on behalf of Microsoft 365.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 2+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
  • OR equivalent experience.

Additional Or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of experience with networking technologies such as IP Address Management, DNS, subnets, network routing, and with network tooling.
  • Visual, verbal, and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in hands on coding, or scripting, or database queries with multiple languages.
  • Customer obsession, empathy for customer needs, and the ability to translate that into delightful products.
  • Demonstrable experience or training in data science, statistical analysis, data pipeline, or data warehousing.
  • Tertiary education in computer science, data science, or related majors with focus or research in networking.
  • Experience with big data tooling, data engineering and related technologies including COSMOS, SCOPE, Azure Cosmos DB, Kusto Query Language, Microsoft SQL Server, python, PowerShell, and C#.
  • Cross group collaboration skills across teams and organizations. Ability to leverage situational leadership and self-motivation skills while managing ambiguity, complexity, and rapid change. Track record of successfully driving large mission critical, complex projects, across multiple organizations.

Product Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
