The BI Developer III is responsible for leading and developing complex data model designs for business intelligence tools. This role also serves as mentor to colleagues by sharing knowledge and skillsets that are pertinent to a successful analytics team. The individual will lead the conversation of customer requests into technical requirements, conduct hands-on analysis, and ensure deliverable commitments are met. You will work with product teams on developing solutions that meet the questions and needs of the customer.


This position will lead projects to enable process improvement, new product adoption, and other enhancements. Works directly with internal clients to research and identify operational business requirements with sufficient detail and clarity to allow the development of the data or reporting solution needed. Develops, maintains, and ensures quality control of data systems and may assist in development and implementation of measurement systems.

To be qualified for this position, you:


  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Management, or equivalent Certifications)
  • 5+ years of related experience scripting and data manipulation languages such as SQL and Python.
  • 5+ years of experience and proficiency in automating reporting and building visualizations and some administrative exposure in tools such as IBM Cognos, Pyramid, Power BI, Tableau, or other related BI tools.
  • 2+ years of AWS QuickSight experience. This is required to be considered for the role.
  • 3+ years of data modeling within a business intelligence tool
  • Proficiency in relational databases; design, structure, data associations, and query language.
  • Experience in conducting root cause analysis and recommend corrections to data issues reported by customers or exceptions reports.
  • Experience in cross-examination of multiple data sources to provide actionable insights and feedback.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with management and team to enhance knowledge and lead project work with minimal direction. Maintains composure and professionalism in a fast-speed environment.
  • Able to plan work, set clear direction, and coordinate own tasks in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment. Proficient at triaging issues, identifying data abnormalities, and debugging software
  • Capable of clearly presenting findings in oral, written, and graphical forms.
  • Mentoring junior Developers and Data Analysts
  • Flexible and able to embrace change


To differentiate yourself, you:


  • Experienced in manipulating and analyzing large-scale health administrative claims (Commercial, Medicare), billing, operational, customer service and click-stream data, knowledge of different dataset’s limitations and strengths
  • Experience in healthcare industry data such as X12, CPT/HCPCS, ICD-10
  • AWS experience including but not limited to Redshift, S3, Airflow
  • Data product development experience such as enterprise or SaaS dashboards


What you will be doing:


  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, including product management, business development, customer service, and clients, to define project scope, requirements, and timeline
  • Analyze healthcare data, including medical procedures, health conditions, and provider practices
  • Apply statistical, predictive modeling, and/or data mining techniques to develop analytical solutions
  • Creating complex but easy to use data models for end-users to create data analytics products such as dashboards and reports
  • Work with engineering teams to enhance data model, improve ETL methodologies, and optimize cloud computing performance
  • Create interactive BI dashboards and visualizations
  • Apply business acumen to enhance data cleaning and curation methodologies to ensure accurate and reliable inputs to analysis and predictive modeling
  • Identify data abnormalities and their root causes, suggest possible steps for mitigation, and liaise with data steward to develop long-term solutions
  • Assess and explain the impact of data and methodology changes on analysis results to technical and non-technical audience
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement. Design and implement the new workflow
  • Coach, mentor, and knowledge share for growth of the team and quality improvement. Work with junior data analysis in technical aspects including, but not limited to applying industry standards and query optimization
