Klaviyo is looking for a Detection Engineering Manager to lead a growing team of detection engineers at Klaviyo. This is a technical leadership role that involves detection engineering, telemetry data ingestion, data engineering and analytics, threat models, attack path analysis, security orchestration and automation, and building new tools to take the detection engineering program to the next level. You will own and implement the scale out strategy of the detection engineering program as well as establish metrics that demonstrate continuous maturity towards target state objectives. As Engineering Manager, you will also have the opportunity to provide detection engineering thought leadership, take ownership of end-to-end detection engineering lifecycle, and execute on broader security operations engagements.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead, manage and grow team of talented security engineers
  • Define detection engineering strategy, roadmap, and OKRs
  • Partner with key stakeholders to buildout scalable detection and response systems
  • Architect and implement data ingestion patterns for the SIEM and Data Lake
  • Establish telemetry data across Klaviyo environments (platform, cloud, corp)
  • Build and mature detection engineering processes and standard patterns
  • Develop, test and deploy high fidelity detections using signatures, anomalies and models
  • Deploy and optimize detection engineering technologies (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS)
  • Automate and codify detection engineering processes and playbooks
  • Build tools, integrations, and automations for detection platforms
  • Perform adversary emulation to identify detection gaps
  • Collaborate with response engineers and support incidents / investigations
  • Collaborate with high-risk system owners to improve visibility and detection coverage

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • 6+ years of security operations experience in the modern cloud environments
  • Leadership experience in detection and response engineering
  • Detection engineering experience in the modern cloud environments
  • Experience with CI/CD, detection as code, infrastructure as code, and microservices
  • Experience with extract, transform and load (ETL) data pipelines
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM and Data Lakes solutions (e.g., Splunk, Snowflake)
  • Understanding of cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, and/or Azure
  • Experience with coding languages to build/automate (e.g., Python, Go)
  • Understand techniques, tools and procedures used by threat actors
  • Experience with Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR)
  • Strong fundamentals of Linux and Mac operating system internals
  • Automation-first approach for all work performed
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Team player with a strong, self-managing work ethic

The pay range for this role is listed below. Sales roles are also eligible for variable compensation and hourly non-exempt roles are eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable law. This role is eligible for benefits, including: medical, dental and vision coverage, health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k), flexible paid time off and company-paid holidays and a culture of learning that includes a learning allowance and access to a professional coaching service for all employees.

Base Pay Range For US Locations:

$192,000—$288,000 USD
