About the Role

RootstockLabs is a core contributor to the Rootstock Blockchain, a Bitcoin merge-mined smart contracts platform - the most secure smart contract platform in the world. RootstockLabs also develops the Rootstock Infrastructure Framework (RIF) to provide our partners with everything they need to build decentralised apps and protocols in the exciting Bitcoin Defi L2 space.

We are looking for a Product Designer to join RootstockLabs during this exciting time of growth. Reporting to the Senior Product Manager you will support the ongoing transformation of our business, focussing in particular on the implementation and advancement of Decentralised Autonomous Organisations and associated protocols & Tokenomics which sit on top of the Rootstock blockchain platform.

What You’ll be Doing

Deliver the product vision for specific products in the Tokenomics Product Streams and be the coordinating point across the business to align squads and functional areas to partner needs guided by the strategy set by the Senior Product Manager. Utilise your full range of product design and user interface design skills, from ideation with stakeholders, to working with engineers implementing your detailed mocks, and producing best-in-class UX/UI that helps engage Rootstock key ecosystem personas…

• Work with the Development team, Tech Lead, Product Manager, and Product Business Analyst to assess and implement designs to a high degree of velocity and quality for our projects and products from conception to launch and scale
• Provide brand / product design implementation and recommendations, and set high standards for RootstockLabs approach to the design of web applications, dApps, mobile applications. Persona’s you’ll focus on are several types of end-users, partners (=customers) and developers;
• Collaborate with engineering, product, marketing and sales leads to design and deliver priority design specific projects simultaneously, and ultimately build a best-in-class design that ties to the Product Strategy and supports the Go To Market approach
• Seek, capture, and Incorporate data and customer insights in order to create conceptual wireframes, prototypes and high fidelity designs
• Implement product and brand/marketing guidelines that drive business outcomes and uphold a high bar, reflecting the RootstockLabs’ vision vision, mission, and ethos;
• Utilise AI tools to work independently but collaborate seamlessly
• Create prototypes and deliver user testing, Following emerging design standards to ensure designs are implemented with precision, maintaining high fidelity to the original specifications.
• Create a world-class user experience through Design of intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for our suite of products.
• Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to illustrate design concepts and facilitate discussions within the product team.
• Contribute to the strategic planning of new features and improvements based on UI/UX market trends and user feedback.
• Create customer-centered designs that incorporate customer feedback, user research, data, design trends from industry leaders, and technical constraints
• Advocate for design by sharing your work regularly and presenting cross-functionally, while being able to precisely articulate design rationale

What You’ll Bring to the Table

• 5-10 years of Design experience, including track record of high quality hands-on design delivery
• Experience in designing for web3 platforms, with an understanding of the technical limitations and possibilities.
• Inspiring portfolio that demonstrates experience managing design processes, design projects, supporting design systems, working through complex user flows, and shipping products that are functional, intuitive, and visually compelling
• Expert Proficiency with design software with Figma mandatory and other research/prototyping/workflow tools (e.g. Canva, Miro, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop)
• Strong interest in and familiarity with financial technology, DeFi, cryptocurrency, blockchains, and decentralised technologies (DEXs, CEXs, DAOs, Bitcoin L2 DeFi)
• Comfortable with project ambiguity, complexity, and interdependencies
• Well rounded interpersonal and good communication skills with the ability to talk to internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to embrace abstract concepts and apply them to Designing real world situations aligned to strategy
• Proven experience in all phases of the design process including user research, persona creation, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing
• The capacity to bring novel, simple, and intuitive design to a nascent industry in which user experiences and interfaces are complex and inscrutable to the everyday person
• An innate understanding of the end-to-end product design process – from identifying customer needs, jobs-to-be-done, and pain points to delivering exceptional customer experiences
• Proven experience in problem solving. We’re in a very new environment with complexities that will require creative thinking to solve
• Strong knowledge of user-centered design methodologies and usability principles.
• Experience discovering solutions through research and user testing (sharing prototypes with customers and internal stakeholders).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, with an Entrepreneurial mindset
• Track record of creating seamless customer journeys using design thinking and agile, iterative product development processes
• BONUS: Experience developing scalable and flexible design systems to maintain clean and simple design patterns/customer interactions, to ensure consistency across our portfolio
• BONUS: Have designed crypto/blockchain UIs/UXs for disruptive and innovative defi protocols or dApps with demonstrable portfolio.
• BONUS: Experience using Midjourney could be useful
• BONUS: Fluent level of English, extra points for Spanish
