About Global Infrastructure Basel Foundation (GIB)

Established in 2010, we are a Swiss non-profit foundation based in Basel. Our interdisciplinary team of 20+ professionals from 18 different countries have backgrounds in engineering, ecology, business and finance, urban planning, humanities, sustainability, communications, and law – areas that we combine to work on infrastructure projects which lead to more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient communities and ecosystems.

Job profile

· Type: Permanent (subject to 3-month probation period, extension possible)

· Start date: As soon as possible (by mutual agreement)

· Location: Basel, Switzerland

· Percentage: 80%-100% (by mutual agreement)

· Travel requirements: Some international travel may be required

· Other requirements: Swiss work permit or EU citizenshipSalary range: CHF 94,500-103,500/year (gross) for a full-time position, depending on qualifications and experience

About the position – Project Manager, Sustainable Infrastructure Finance

GIB’s mission is to accelerate a mainstream transition to sustainable, resilient, and regenerative infrastructure. Our work is divided into three strategic pillars: Infrastructure Quality and Finance; Infrastructure and the Next Generation; and Infrastructure & Nature. As a Project Manager for Sustainable Finance, you will be working across all three pillars to support our teams’ efforts to promote sustainable and resilient infrastructure through sustainable finance.

Our ideal candidate would have a strong passion for sustainable finance, sustainable infrastructure, and ESG standards, and share GIB’s mission and core values.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting our Sustainable Finance Director in developing and executing GIB’s Infrastructure Quality and Finance strategy, with the aim to accelerate investment into sustainable, resilient and regenerative infrastructure globally;
  • Supporting our project teams with knowledge and expertise on sustainable infrastructure finance;
  • Managing projects in the field of sustainable infrastructure finance;
  • Developing and implementing sustainable finance strategies to optimise the performance of our projects while aligning with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals;
  • Engaging with stakeholders, including partners, funders and investors, to promote sustainable finance initiatives;
  • Representing GIB in national and international events to promote GIB’s work in the field of sustainable infrastructure finance.

You meet the following professional criteria:

  • An advanced university degree in a related field (at least Bachelor): engineering, business, finance, sustainability, or related field;
  • Excellent oral and written English (proficiency in German, French, or Spanish would be considered an advantage);
  • Experience and understanding of infrastructure finance, for example, experience in structuring or assessing infrastructure investments;
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills;
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in infrastructure finance and sustainable, resilient, regenerative infrastructure (experience in sustainability standards/labels would be considered an advantage);
  • Experience in the assessment or screening of infrastructure projects, compliance with labels, standards or regulations and event management would be considered an advantage;
  • Excellent understanding of sustainability trends, regulations, and best practices; and
  • Commitment to the principles of sustainable finance and corporate social responsibility.
