We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Agency Accounting Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will focus on commission-related accounting functions and play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of monthly commission payments and reporting. What does an AGENCY ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST at GAINSCO?

Audit and Validation:

  • Daily posting of transactions, including payments, refunds, NSF transactions, billing adjustments, transfers, EFT changes, fee reversals, and processing exception reports.
  • Provide training to other A/R staff on transaction processing to ensure accuracy.

Calculation Support:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and resolve calculations related to commission statements.
  • Provide support to agents and the field operations team by assisting with monthly commission explanations and understanding.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and resolve calculations related to commission statements.

What is required?

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of accounting experience or insurance agency accounting experience.
  • Prior experience working with and analyzing commission statements for accuracy and discrepancies
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel experience required.
  • Prior insurance industry experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in mathematics, analysis, and commission calculations.
  • Strong experience with Excel, Power BI, and experience with large datasets.

Other skills and abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, management, customers, vendors, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills.
