We are currently searching for a:

Technical Manager Integrated Internal Services

Based in one of our offices in Leiden, Eelde, Sheffield, Bohl Iggelheim or Oberhaching


This position demands a seasoned professional with a successful track record in managing a technical engineering team in an international environment.


As a technical manager you are responsible for the overall operation of the support of OCLC’s Internal Services and Products. You will lead a team of system engineers based in 6 different locations in EMEA and the USA. This team works together to execute requests for new and existing services and products and offer onsite regional office support.

The global IT Solutions and Support Department consists of two other teams, led by 2 USA-based Technical Managers, who you will collaborate with closely. You will report directly to the Director Technology.


Main responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day activities of the technical systems engineering team.
  • Delivery of hosting solutions across technology platforms.
  • Manage and execute queue of service requests.
  • Oversee on-call support for technical issues.
  • Provide technical leadership across all regions.
  • Maintain global availability to adhere to established service level agreements.
  • Build and maintain relationship with the Security team. Understand security needs and developing processes for adherence.
  • Ongoing security patching of the global infrastructure including physical and virtual Linux and Windows servers.
  • Provide requirements to engineering and solutions teams for the creation and improvement of automation services.
  • Endpoint for tools and compliance.
  • Oversee (on premise) support for email cloud, Microsoft Teams and Voice, conference rooms and audio-visual events.
  • Supporting projects throughout the company. Reviewing requirements, estimate work effort, coordinating activities and delivering services.
  • Managing and mentoring technical staff. Setting individual and team objectives, evaluate team performance and provide constructive feedback. Work closely with each team member to provide career growth and planning.


Qualifications:

  • BS in computer-related or engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in the management of technical international teams.
  • Exposure and/or expertise in a variety of infrastructure and IT concepts, architectures, vendor hardware, analysis, and design methodologies.
  • Proficient at resource and project management, planning and implementation.
  • Proven experience planning technology service implementation and support.
  • Fluency in English and Dutch or German would be an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Strong relationship building experience.
  • This hybrid role requires regular office presence in of our EMEA locations. Due to commuting logistics, living in the proximity of Leiden, Eelde, Sheffield, Bohl Iggelheim or Oberhaching is highly desirable.


Desired but not required:

  • An advanced degree in computer science or business management.
  • Experience managing and successfully implementing complex projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of one or more of the following: Linux ideally RedHat and SuSE, Networking, VPN, Windows Architecture, VMware virtualization, monitoring, performance analysis and configuration management.
