Job Description

TITLE: Global Buying Internship - Summer 2024

Position Summary

As a Global Buying Intern at AEO, Inc. you will be partnered with an Assistant Global Buyer and will support both American Eagle and Aerie brands with exposure to multiple Franchise, Joint Venture, and Wholesale partnerships. You will spend 10 weeks learning what it takes to work across continents and cultures to ensure a globally relevant yet localized assortment ends up in stores worldwide! Global Buyers act as the main connection point between HQ product teams and International Accounts. They need to be diplomatic, understanding both the Brand and each individual partner’s business needs to ultimately delivery a geo right assortment which is profitable. This role requires a passion for retail, a very strong analytical and business acumen, and a natural curiosity for global cultures. If you love retail, but have a passion for learning how an American brand is able to operate globally this is the role for you.

Training Overview

  • Interns will be placed in Global Buying, with a focus on a select account, while still having exposure to multiple markets and
  • business models
  • On-the-Job training with assignments guided by an individual Mentor
  • Classroom learning
  • Individual and group projects incorporating both product and financials
  • Roundtables with top level executives
  • Bi-weekly self-evaluations to understand progress throughout program
  • Pre-planned events around Pittsburgh, PA or New York, NY to get to know the cities that AEO loves to call home!

Qualifications

  • Students are eligible after they have completed their junior year at a 4 year college or university
  • Preferred majors include a Business Related Degree
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required
  • Required to complete a project during the interview process
  • Required to pass an Advanced Retail Math Test during interview process
  • Passion for retail and knowledge of the AEO Inc. family of brands
  • Understanding of trends and how they relate to the AE/aerie customer
  • Strong business acumen through classes, internships or prior work experience
  • Strong organizational, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
  • High degree of proficiency Google Suite, specifically Google Sheets
  • Interns are expected to be local to the AEO Home Office in Pittsburgh, PA or New York, NY for 10 weeks from June - August

Pay/Benefits Information

  • Actual starting pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to relevant experience and location.
