We are looking for an individual that is curious and passionate about technology, who is a generalist software developer, with an emphasis on web development and big data pipelines.
You will join our team made of talented and creative software engineers, who follow an agile practice. We are based in Geneva, but we collaborate with multiple Expedia Group’s teams around the world. Every developer is given a high level of ownership to permit learning and fully own the products.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with Product Manager, UX Designer, Data Engineers, Data Scientists and peers to understand business requirements and shape exciting new product features.
- Participate in technical design discussions to challenge and propose alternate approaches.
- Take ownership and develop best-in-class web applications end-to-end (front-end, APIs), which are scalable, fast and robust.
- Test, debug, monitor and actively support our applications and APIs.
- Build technical expertise in new areas, share the experience with the team.
- Develop data pipelines which are optimized and scalable, and actively support them.
- Master’s in computer science or related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience
- Strong knowledge of web development (JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS)
- Experience with a JavaScript framework, with a strong preference for React with TypeScript
- Experience in backend development with Node.js and one of its frameworks (e.g. Hapi, Express).
- Experience in unit testing code using JavaScript libraries.
- Experience in relational databases and optimization
- Experience in building data pipelines using big data technologies, such as Spark
- Knowledge of several Amazon Web Services
- Knowledge of GraphQL and Apollo federation
- Experience with Java Spring Boot development
- Experience with end-to-end testing frameworks for web applications (Nightwatch.js, Puppeteer or other)
