We are looking for a Software Engineer (m/f/d) to join our R&D Team in St.Valentin (near Linz).


In this important role, you plan, execute and coordinate SW-related R&D programs in the area of innovation and technology evaluation to support the R&D organization with technical assessment of technologies being considered by Magna. The evaluation consists of a scientific deep dive, application analysis, market and cost factors associated with the technology.


Your Tasks


  • Evaluation of new SW technologies with compliance to scientific principles, engineering principles, company standards, customer requirements and related specifications
  • SW Architecture pattern definition based on new SW technologies to be integrated into the Magna portfolio – align overall fit to SW architecture of new technologies
  • Support the definition of SW related Building Blocks (BB’s) and their architecture with respect to modularity and scalability
  • Support strong SW related fields e.g., AI with the appropriate SW language or technology (e.g., OpenVX, Apache TVM) to make SW BB’s independent from the HW
  • Ensure proper integration of new SW stacks to grant an effective use of HW regarding safety, security, memory, and performance (e.g., Rust)
  • Define blueprints / templates for the use of new SW technologies to be implemented in existing frameworks


Your Profile


  • Master's or higher degree in Engineering including but not limited to: Computer Science, Electrical, Aerospace, and Robotics
  • Experience in embedded software development in a technology area related to mobility, robotics, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Proficient in programming in C/C++, Matlab/Simulink, Python, Rust, etc.
  • Experience in automotive operating systems including Autosar, Linux/ROS2, POSIX, etc.
  • Hands on mentality, willingness to learn and takes risks

The minimum annual remuneration package for this position is EUR 47.000,- with corresponding qualification. The actual salary is higher and depends on your education and specific work experience.
